Understanding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

Prenatal alcohol exposure can cause varying degrees of brain damage, physical harms and learning disabilities known as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).  The additional distinctive facial dysmorphia is unique to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), the severest presentation of the continuum. Effective antenatal care is essential to prevent these avoidable harms.
