Abigail’s Footsteps

Baby loss charity Abigail’s Footsteps provides support and counselling for bereaved families as well as specialist bereavement training for midwives and healthcare professionals. Since 2010, they have worked to improve the way bereaved parents are cared for by hospitals, and to better educate midwives on how to care for grieving parents. By working with medical professionals to understand the issues and seek solutions Abigail's Footsteps have helped many families.  One of the greatest contributions has been the creation and funding of the Abi cooling cot which allows parents valuable additional time to make memories with their baby before saying goodbye. Cots are distributed to hospitals nationwide where there is need and as funding allows.

“When we had Abigail, we only had two or three hours with her, the Abi Cot allows parents to have two or three days if they wish.” David Ward, charity co-founder.
